The jazz year 2026 is dominated by the 100th birthday of Miles Davis. Curator Siggi Loch therefore opens the program of the 14th season of Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic with a tribute to perhaps the greatest innovator in jazz. On 29 September, US trumpet star Theo Croker will celebrate Miles 100 together with the Norwegian Wind Ensemble under the direction of Geir Lysne. In November follows the program Conversations: at the center of these musical dialogues is bassist and clarinetist Nils Kugelmann, who will perform both with the highly acclaimed pianist Shuteen Erdenebaatar and in the trio led by and featuring Iiro Rantala.

In January 2027, under the title Soul Trail, the journey returns to the roots of jazz: to gospel. Taking part are the NDR Vokalensemble, the wonderfully versatile pianist Daniel García, and the quintet of Polish star violinist Adam Bałdych. The April date once again belongs to Michael Wollny. Germany’s best-known jazz pianist looks back under the title Wanderlust at four projects: his solo project Winterreise, his duos with harpsichordist Tamar Halperin and with Nils “Red Horn” Landgren, as well as his program Out of Land with Andreas Schaerer, Émile Parisien, and Vincent Peirani.

The final date of the season in June 2027 is dedicated, under the title Remember Esbjörn Svensson, to a great jazz pianist who died far too early in 2008. Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund – Svensson’s companions in the trio e.s.t. – join guitarist Ulf Wakenius, pianist Joel Lyssarides, saxophonist Magnus Lindgren, and trumpeter Verneri Pohjola in commemorating this rock star of jazz.

In an additional concert in the series, the legendary Harlem Gospel Singers will appear, enriching our Biennale Signs & Wonders with the perspective of spirituals. Subscribers to Series P receive a 15% discount on the single‑ticket price. Available only by phone or at the box office.
