The Karajan Akademie enables outstanding young musicians to perfect their skills as part of a scholarship programme with the Berliner Philharmoniker. In addition to individual lessons with lecturers from the ranks of the orchestra, the members of the Academy gain valuable experience in rehearsals and concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker and leading conductors. Founded in 1972 on Herbert von Karajan’s initiative, the academy is also indispensable for securing the next generation of musicians for the Berliner Philharmoniker. Former members of the Karajan Akademie can also be found in famous orchestras all over the world.
