The Berliner Philharmoniker and its principal conductor Kirill Petrenko are delighted to be ambassadors of the UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe since 2021. This makes them the first organisation to receive this status and to join the UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe’s "Circle of Friends".

UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe has been working for more than 40 years as a national partner of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) for people on the run. It collects donations for UNHCR’s worldwide operations as well as for projects for refugees in Germany, and it informs the public about flight and the causes of flight. UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe and the Berliner Philharmoniker are united in their concern to open up the prospect of a secure future for people on the run, in which they can once again take their fate into their own hands. The Berliner Philharmoniker support through individual campaigns and long-term projects with events and fundraising appeals, for example in context of our popular lunch and carte blanche concerts.

Help in winter: Appeal for donations for the UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe

In winter, temperatures plummet, and refugees, especially families, struggle to heat their homes and protect themselves from the cold. People in Ukraine, Afghanistan and countries such as Syria and Iraq are already at risk and dependent on humanitarian aid. The winter is making their situation even worse, and increasing the need for aid enormously. The UN Refugee Agency is on the ground in the affected regions to provide vital aid for refugees in winter. This includes the extension and insulation of houses, and the provision of shelter, winter clothing, blankets, heaters and fuel.

During the winter months, the Berliner Philharmoniker, as a partner of UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe, appeals for donations – in broad-based communication through our website, newsletter and social media, but also through concerts with an additional donation option when purchasing tickets. Help us to support refugees during the harsh winter months.
