Our association was founded in 1949 to help the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra find a new concert hall in post-war Berlin. Today, the Friends are committed to the purchase and financing of instruments. But the improvement of the equipment in the Philharmonie, especially the sound technology, the reappraisal, and presentation of the history of the orchestra and the general renovation of the organ in the Philharmonie are also part of the sponsorship projects.
