Series M

Included: six concerts
Prices: 201 to 585 €

For decades, Prokofiev’s extraordinarily virtuosic Third Piano Concerto has been one of Martha Argerich’s favourite works. She now performs it with Lahav Shani, with whom she shares a close artistic bond. No less demanding is the same composer’s Second Piano Concerto, which will be interpreted by Seong‑Jin Cho – a pianist who combines astonishing technique with a poetic sound. Making her debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker is conductor Elim Chan, who will appear at his side. This series features music by women composers on three occasions, including a world premiere by Sarah Nemtsov, conducted by Kirill Petrenko. Simon Rattle pursues his love of Czech music with Janáček’s Taras Bulba, and Gustavo Dudamel conducts Mahler’s Seventh Symphony with its fascinating “night music” movements. Finally, Zubin Mehta brings the legendary violinist Pinchas Zukerman, who first appeared with the Berliner Philharmoniker back in the 1970s.
