Info

The Berliner Philharmoniker’s new Biennale, titled Signs and Wonders, is launched. For the occasion, Kirill Petrenko conducts three works of great spiritual and visual power: Olivier Messiaen’s orchestral work Les Offrandes oubliées is a meditation on guilt, sacrifice and redemption; Paul Hindemith’s symphony Mathis der Maler is inspired by three panels from the famous Isenheim Altarpiece by Matthias Grünewald. Between these two works comes the world premiere by Sarah Nemtsov, whose work has established her as one of the most distinctive voices of the next generation of contemporary composers.
