Series G

Included: six concerts
Prices: 189 to 558 €

Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker perform Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel together with a distinguished vocal ensemble, a work whose magical blend of voices and atmosphere delights fairy‑tale and opera lovers of all ages. Baritone Christian Gerhaher can be heard in this series, among other pieces, with an intimate movement from Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde. Gustavo Dudamel conducts Bruckner’s Romantic Symphony, fascinating for its evocations of nature, while Markus Poschner leads Schubert’s deeply moving final symphony. Beethoven’s Second Piano Concerto, marked by a mixture of musical humour and cantabile lyricism, will be performed here by Mitsuko Uchida, who is outstanding in precisely this repertoire. And in Yuja Wang’s performance of Bartók’s explosive First Piano Concerto, pianistic fireworks are to be expected – just as orchestral fireworks are promised in Kirill Petrenko’s Respighi program.
