Gustavo Dudamel has already performed a broad and stylistically diverse repertoire with the Berliner Philharmoniker. In April 2027, he will make his debut with the orchestra as an interpreter of Bruckner. There will also be premieres in concerts led by chief conductor Kirill Petrenko and his predecessor Simon Rattle: under their direction, new works by Sarah Nemtsov and Cathy Milliken will be performed – Milliken being the first director of the Philharmonic’s education program. Among the soloists in this series are, in addition to former Artists in Residence Mitsuko Uchida and Christian Gerhaher, two members of the orchestra: English hornist Dominik Wollenweber and principal horn Yun Zeng. In Dima Slobodeniouk’s program, Mendelssohn’s enchanting A Midsummer Night’s Dream music will be featured alongside the cello concerto by his friend Robert Schumann – with cello superstar Yo-Yo Ma as soloist.
