Richard Gowers in a black suit sits on a minimalist, block-like staircase in front of a simple background with a gentle light-dark colour gradient. His hands rest in his lap and he looks directly at the camera.

Anyone who loves music for organ and large brass ensemble will certainly not be disappointed by this programme. Sixteen musicians from the ranks of the Berliner Philharmoniker will be taking part when Richard Gowers takes to the organ. The young organist from London has become no stranger to Berlin since his Philharmonie debut almost two years ago. At that time, he performed with the Philharmonic brass players to great success, which soon gave rise to the wish to experience the 30-year-old once again in the Philharmonie. No sooner said than done.

Alongside Miloslav Kabeláč’s expressive Third Symphony, for which Jakub Hrůša has been engaged as conductor, works by Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner will also be performed. These symphonic arrangements for organ and brass were written by Richard Gowers himself, thereby revealing yet another facet of his talent. A performance to listen to – and marvel at.
