After two triumphant concerts at the Mahler Festival in Amsterdam, the tour continues: with Mahler’s Ninth Symphony, the orchestra and Chief Conductor Kirill Petrenko travel on to Brussels, Cologne, and Essen.
Before another fantastic Mahler Nine with Kirill Petrenko last night, Julia Gartemann, Martin Menking and Dominik Wollenweber met with young instrumentalists from the Folkwang Music School Essen. They later attended both the rehearsal and the concert - as part of a cooperation with Theater und Philharmonie Essen GmbH (TUP).
After two stops abroad, the Berliner Philharmoniker visited the Kölner Philharmonie – once again with Mahler’s Ninth.
After no fewer than 25 concerts at Bozar in Brussels, last night almost felt like a home game. A side effect of touring with Mahler: with such huge symphonies, so many musicians are involved that a few instrument cases and evening wear travel boxes sometimes end up in the foyer. This leads to wonderfully personal encounters with the audience – an exchange we truly value and enjoy! Thank you, dear audience – we’re already looking forward to next time!
