Cellist Knut Weber performed at the Mahler Festival in Amsterdam back in 1995 – as a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. This year, he returns as a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Under the direction of Sakari Oramo and Kirill Petrenko, the orchestra is performing Mahler’s late symphonies.
In our video, Knut Weber reflects on the deeply personal insights of Petrenko’s approach to Mahler’s Ninth – and why, for him, the final Adagio feels like a glimpse of another world.
