Jazz across Four Centuries – this could be the playful title of the programme curated by Siggi Loch for the 13th season of Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic. The series kicks off in September with Eternal Baroque. Specialising in stride and early jazz, pianist Bernd Lhotzky brings together classical music and jazz – performing from the harpsichord with an illustrious ensemble, and incorporating modern sound design. In November, Remember Cannonball pays tribute to Julian Edwin Adderley, led by the young alto saxophone sensation Jakob Manz. He is joined by an outstanding line-up, including pianist Danny Grissett, trumpeter Verneri Pohjola, drummer Gregory Hutchinson, and tenor saxophonist Tony Lakatos.
The first concert of 2026, Two Tenors, unites two outstanding European tenor saxophonists: the Norwegian Marius Neset and the British artist Emma Rawicz, each performing with their own all-star band. The season finale is a celebration of Nils Landgren – trombonist, composer, festival director, and a towering figure in European jazz for the past 40 years. To celebrate his 70th birthday, he will be joined by prominent musical companions as well as members of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
