This series features many outstanding solo performers. Lang Lang plays Ravel’s intricate, jazz-inspired piano concerto, while cellist Gautier Capuçonexplores Tchaikovsky’s late-Romantic reflections on Mozart‘s era. Josef Suk’s rarely-heard Fantasie gives violinist Julia Fischer the opportunity to demonstrate her technical and expressive prowess. With Emmanuelle Haïm, we journey into the elegant yet emotionally intense world of French baroque opera. Another early music specialist, the legendary Jordi Savall, makes his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in a concert which Mozart’s “Jupiter Symphony”. Other new guests include cellist Maximilian Hornung and conductor Thomas Guggeis, whose concert will open with Richard Strauss’s ever-popular Also sprach Zarathustra.
