Open Day
Shared musical experiences foster a sense of togetherness – even in uncertain times. This connection becomes even more powerful when people engage creatively with music. This is the spirit informing our education projects for all age groups – both in Berlin and on tour around the world. In our Be Phil Orchestra, hosted during the Easter Festival in Salzburg, we make music together with amateur instrumentalists.
We celebrate the fifth anniversary of the youngSTAR Festival for school ensembles and open our doors to the entire city during our Open Day at the Philharmonie. As our motto #SharingMusic suggests, we combine a passion for music with democratic values, creating experiences that engage all the senses and inspire visions of a world worth living in.
Alongside the Be Phil Orchestra in Salzburg, our second major education initiative is the biennial Open Day at the Philharmonie Berlin. On 21 June 2026, people of all ages are invited to discover the Philharmonie and experience the Berliner Philharmoniker up close.
Two highly successful formats celebrate their fifth anniversary this season: our interactive concerts for young listeners aged 3 and up, and the youngSTAR Festival for school ensembles. Our much-loved family concerts also continue, with chief conductor Kirill Petrenko and members of the Berliner Philharmoniker joining as presenters and performers.
The Berliner Philharmoniker’s education programme – supported from its inception by our partner Deutsche Bank – has been creating spaces for encounter and exchange for 23 years. Last season alone, more than 100,000 people took part in our education activities.
For those curious about what happens behind the scenes, our family tours offer a glimpse into the Philharmonie. These guided visits not only introduce our world-famous concert hall, but also bring it to life with sound. Curiosity and participation are encouraged!
