At the invitation of the Berliner Philharmoniker
Info
José Fernández Torres was practically born with a talent for guitar and a keen sense for flamenco, the most passionate of all Spanish dances. His grandfather and father were celebrated flamenco guitarists, both known by the name El Tomate. As a scion of this guitar dynasty, José Fernández took the name “Tomatito” – little tomato. He began his career as the accompanist to the legendary Paco de Lucía. Today, Tomatito is a star in his own right – evolving flamenco by blending it with jazz elements and presenting it on stage with exuberance and virtuosity.
