On 1 May, the Berliner Philharmoniker and chief conductor Kirill Petrenko celebrate their 36th Europakonzert – held this year at the historic Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria. The programme features an overture by Haydn alongside works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky. Joining the orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s graceful Variations on a Rococo Theme is cellist Gautier Capuçon. Afterwards, the orchestra travels on to give guest performances in Vienna, Munich and Künzelsau. Join us on our journey.
Esterházy Palace provided a stunning backdrop for this year’s Europakonzert. We’ve captured a few highlights from the day for you:
Europakonzert 2026 at Esterházy Palace
The thirty-sixth Europakonzert takes place at Schloss Esterházy, a site of tremendous musical and historical importance, for many years the home of Joseph Haydn. The programme under Kirill Petrenko on 1 May opens, fittingly, with one of Haydn’s works. A brief look at Schloss Esterházy and its musical significance.
We would like to thank the players of the Postcode Lotterie for supporting the Europakonzert.
