The Berliner Philharmoniker and Iván Fischer have mutually agreed that the concerts on 5 to 7 November will not take place under his direction. The reason is that the orchestra and the conductor could not reach an agreement on the seating arrangement of the orchestra for Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5. Both sides regret this and respect each other’s position.
The Berliner Philharmoniker are very grateful to Andrés Orozco-Estrada for agreeing to conduct the concerts with an unchanged programme. This is the Colombian conductor’s second appearance with the Berliner Philharmoniker since his debut in 2017. He is currently Chief Conductor of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, General Music Director of the City of Cologne and Kapellmeister of the Gürzenich Orchestra.
