The significance of the Berliner Philharmoniker is beyond dispute. But can the orchestra’s cultural value also be captured in economic terms? The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) set out to answer that question. Using a systematic, data-driven approach, the consultancy measured the cultural, social and economic contribution of the Berliner Philharmoniker. The report, BCG says, illustrates “the fundamental role that culture plays in society. It reveals both the potential and the means of preserving and further developing the extraordinary value of cultural institutions.”
