Probationary period passed: Igor Šajatović
Igor Šajatović has successfully completed his probationary period with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Congratulations! Before joining the orchestra in May 2025, the double bassist was a member of the Karajan-Akademie and subsequently principal double bass with the WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne. Igor Šajatović studied in Zagreb and Nuremberg with Mario Ivelja and Dorin Marc, and at the Music Academy in Liechtenstein. He had originally wanted to learn to play the electric guitar. But when the director of a Croatian folk ensemble needed a double bassist and placed the huge instrument in his hands, Igor Šajatović immediately fell in love with its distinctive sound.
