Conductors Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla and Thomas Guggeis, both of whom have launched spectacular careers in recent years, make their debuts conducting the Berliner Philharmoniker in this series. Guggeis explores the lush orchestral music of Richard Strauss and Ravel, while Gražinytė-Tyla presents Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, a masterpiece of musical storytelling. Kirill Petrenko, Andris Nelsons, and Semyon Bychkov also bring captivating Russian orchestral works to the Philharmonie. Violinist Janine Jansen, this season’s Artist in Residence, appears twice – once with the current chief conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker and once with his predecessor.
