»Xberg & Du«: Creative in Kreuzberg

“Xberg & Du” is back for round three

Music, beats, dance, film and stories – right in the heart of Kreuzberg, and free of charge. In September 2026, the Berliner Philharmoniker and the team at NaunynRitze invite young people to discover the stage for themselves.

Xberg & Du is a hub for ideas, a laboratory and a space to experiment: you write your own pieces, remix the familiar and find out what happens when orchestral instruments meet beats, moves, cameras and stories. You decide which theme your workshop group explores – it’s all about the connections between different worlds, art forms, styles and kinds of music, and about opening doors to a whole range of cultures.

It all starts with workshops, building up to an Open Stage – your moment to perform live what you’ve created together. Musicians from the Berliner Philharmoniker, Berlin-based artists and members of the Karajan Akademie will be there too. Come along, get involved and bring your talent to the stage.

What’s on offer

Music
The music workshop puts a whole room of drums and percussion instruments at your fingertips – we just dive in, no experience required. Members of the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Karajan Akademie are on hand to support you as we develop music together on timpani, drums and more.

Beatbox
Beatbox means rhythm made with nothing but your mouth – from kick drum to bassline. Working with Mando Beatbox, one of Germany’s best-known beatboxers, you’ll create your own beats and try them out solo, in a group, and alongside orchestral instruments.

Dance
In the dance workshop, you’ll work with Raphael Moussa Hillebrand, an internationally sought-after choreographer from the hip hop and breakdance scene. Together, we’ll develop original moves and short scenes, and discover what it feels like to dance to the live sound of orchestral instruments.

Film
In the film workshop, you’ll use a camera or your phone to capture what matters to you: your places, your people, your take on the project. Experienced filmmaker Ute Freund will teach you simple tricks for image, sound and editing, as you document selected moments along the way. The clips will feature in our shared final presentation on the Open Stage on 27 September.
