The Sunday‑morning Family Concerts subscription takes audiences aged six and above on an expedition through the orchestra’s dazzling world of sound. In moderated and partly staged concerts, major works of music history are presented in a lively way – interactive and playful.

Ottorino Respighi’s Pini di Roma leads listeners on a journey to Italy, painting scenes of singing birds, children at play, and sun‑drenched landscapes. Its richly coloured orchestration makes the atmosphere of Rome feel vividly present. During the Christmas season, a magical concert follows with Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker: a world in which the boundaries between reality and imagination begin to blur. Paul Hindemith’s symphony Mathis der Maler builds a bridge between painting and music. Inspired by famous altarpieces, the work shows how a composer translates strong visual impressions into emotional sound.

In Camille Saint‑Saëns’s Carnival of the Animals, lions, donkeys, fish, and many other creatures are brought to life through music. It almost feels as though the animals stroll through the concert hall: the growling double bass makes elephants stomp, while a swan glides gently over silver waves to the sound of the cello.

A companion season booklet with creative activities and puzzles invites families to begin their musical adventures already at home.
