Two ensembles explore different ways of bringing African musical traditions into dialogue with the present. Swedish singer Sousou and Senegal-born kora virtuoso Maher Cissoko bring together the musical traditions of West Africa with influences from folk, reggae, soul and jazz. Alongside them, the Zawose Queens combine the ritual music of Tanzania with contemporary electronic sounds.
