At the invitation of the Berliner Philharmoniker
Info
Johannes Brahms is one of Yuja Wang’s favourite composers: “I love Brahms. Every work has something so human, so warm and noble – and that is exactly what the world needs right now,” she says. Together with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, she performs his two piano concertos: the darkly dramatic First, in which the young Brahms was still finding his artistic voice, and the Second, composed 22 years later, whose expansive melodic lines convey a new sense of serenity and assurance. Different though they are, both works combine symphonic breadth with profound emotional expression.
