    Info

Two works, two eras – united by dark tension and emotional force: Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24, in the fateful key of C minor, offers passionate outbursts as well as intimate moments. We hear the work with Yefim Bronfman, acclaimed for his wide expressive range. Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 12, “The Year 1917”, sets out to create a musical monument to Russian’s October Revolution: heroic gestures, dramatic force and timpani that invoke cannon blasts give the work its gripping intensity. Tugan Sokhiev conducts.
