    Info

Dream sequences, moonlight, melancholy – Composer in Residence Brett Dean and the Karajan-Akademie explore nocturnal worlds of sound and shadow: Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s late-Romantic String Sextet captures the shimmering spirit of the Belle Époque, while György Kurtág’s surreal piece ... quasi una fantasia ... appears as a distant echo of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. Dean contributes two works of his own: the evocative Dream Sequence and the dark Epitaph, a moving homage to five artist friends who have died.
