Info
The oboe family comprises a wide variety of instruments. Alongside the “French oboe,” which is regarded as the standard today, there is the oboe d’amore with its bulb-shaped bell, the oboe da caccia, curved like a horn, and the elegiac English horn. The small musette is a piccolo oboe representing the soprano register, while the heckelphone allows oboists to descend into the bass range. There are also historical ancestors such as the pommer and the shawm. We will introduce all of these instruments to you in our oboe matinée.
