Concert information

Info

Malian singer Oumou Sangaré began to perform in public as a young child, supplementing her family’s small income. By the time she was five, she was already performing for crowds of thousands, and she went on her first international tour at the age of 16. Today she is a Grammy winner, UN Goodwill Ambassador, and a fierce advocate for women’s rights. “I sing about the injustices in society,” she says. “The problems women suffer – that’s what I want to change.” Her programme Timbuktu blends blues and rock with traditional sounds from her West African homeland to create her own form of unique musical expression.
