Education & Outreach is an integral part of the Berliner Philharmoniker’s work on tour. On the 2026 tour to New York and South America, activities at each destination bring the orchestra’s musicians together with young people and local communities. Encounters and joint rehearsals give young people the opportunity to get to know the musicians and exchange ideas with them. Our photo galleries offer glimpses of these activities across the tour.
The Berliner Philharmoniker’s education programme has been made possible by Deutsche Bank since its inception in 2002. The aim of both partners is to make the work of the orchestra accessible to a wide audience and to inspire people of all ages for music and culture.
A chamber concert at the Goethe-Institut New York gave school students the chance to experience music at close quarters and meet our musicians. Alongside the string quartet performance, there was time for questions and conversation with the players.
At New York’s renowned LaGuardia High School, which focusses on music and the performing arts, members of the Berliner Philharmoniker rehearsed side by side with the school orchestra. In the masterclasses that followed, they worked with the young musicians on phrasing, tone colour and interpretation.
