Biography

The radiant sound and versatility of the trumpet have fascinated Andre Schoch from the very beginning. He received his first trumpet lessons from Ansgar Dümchen at the age of eight. From 2004 to 2007, he was a junior student of Reinhold Friedrich and Klaus Bräker at the Karlsruhe University of Music. He later studied with Matthias Höfs at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, where he also taught from 2015 to 2017.

He gained orchestral experience at a young age in the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Orchestra, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra. His first engagement took him to the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. He was deputy principal trumpet there from 2009 to 2011 before receiving a scholarship to the Berliner Philharmoniker's Karajan Academy, where he was taught by Gábor Tarkövi. The musician found his time at this institution very valuable. "Experiencing the style and sound of the orchestra and adapting to it is extremely fulfilling and motivating." After working as principal trumpet at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and with the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, Andre Schoch became a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker.

The multiple prizewinner of renowned competitions is also involved in chamber music. He is a permanent member of the ensemble 10forBrass and a founding member of the SchwarzGoldTrio. He is also a regular guest performer with German Brass. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors, jogging, playing the piano and visiting art exhibitions.
