The Berliner Philharmoniker’s season finale at the Waldbühne 2015 was not only a musical highlight, but also had a humanitarian aspect. Together with chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle, pianist Lang Lang and UNICEF patron Daniela Schadt, the Berliner Philharmoniker made an appeal for help for Syrian refugee children. The audience at the Waldbühne were able to give direct support to the UNICEF Syrian appeal by SMS. Donations could also be made via the internet. 12.376 Euros were collected in this way. The orchestra, Sir Simon and Lang Lang donated an additional 60.000 Euros. Previously at the Berliner Philharmoniker’s open house day on 14 June, a raffle had raised 8.000 Euros for UNICEF’s campaign in support of the children of Nepal
