The festival at the Kulturforum attracted over 10.000 spectators to events in the cultural venues located around the forum. In addition to exhibitions and concerts, the varied programme offered, among other things, a fashion show, lectures, dance performances and a church service. The Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation and the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz organised the festival in collaboration with the Stiftung St. Matthäus and the Senate Department for Urban Development and Environment. “What a great weekend! There was so much going on, so many happy people playing or listening to music. You can hardly image anything better for the Kulturforum,” said a delighted Sir Simon Rattle, chief conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
The festival at the Kulturforum was supported by Deutsche Bank, which celebrates a 25 year partnership with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Before the performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana, Jürgen Fitschen, co-chairman of the management board of Deutsche Bank, presented a cheque for 25.000 euros to Sir Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker. His conclusion: “The festival at the Kulturforum is emblematic for the vibrant partnership that has connected Deutsche Bank and the Berliner Philharmoniker for 25 years. We are especially pleased to present Sir Simon Rattle and the orchestra as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors a cheque for 25.000 euros for the support of children in need in Syria.”
