Dear friends of the Berliner Philharmoniker
An extraordinary year is coming to an end – with restrictions on everyday life that have affected every one of us. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to those who have fallen ill or been affected by deaths among family or friends as a result of the corona pandemic.
We as the Berliner Philharmoniker have also had to face the challenges of these times. Concert programmes have had to be adapted and, above all, we have had to find new solutions to maintain contact with you. We were temporarily able to present live concerts at the Philharmonie under different conditions, but concerts are now once again only possible in digital form.
We thank you very much for remaining loyal to us. It has been very moving to see how willingly our audience has seized every opportunity to be present at our concerts. As happy as we are about the possibility of broadcasting concerts in the Digital Concert Hall, we very much miss you! And even more than ever, we realise how much interaction with you means to us.
It is not yet possible to say at the moment when we will be able to meet again in the Philharmonie as we did before. The latest news on new vaccines gives cause for hope. And of course we will inform you immediately as soon as we can resume concert operations, in whatever form.
Until then, we wish you all the best this Christmas season. We hope that you start the new year in good health and in good spirits, and we very much look forward to seeing you again.
Your Berliner Philharmoniker
