The piano as orchestra

In our video: Beatrice Rana on her piano recital programme

The piano becomes an orchestra: for her debut concert in the Philharmoniker’s Piano concert series, Beatrice Rana has put together a both unusual and exciting programme of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, Isaac Albéniz and Igor Stravinsky which allows the Italian pianist to elicit a rich spectrum of timbres from her instrument. Beatrice Rana reveals in our video why she made this selection, what connects the Romantic Schumann with the Baroque composer Bach, and what role the musical metropolis of Paris plays in the pieces of Albéniz and Stravinsky.
