Debut: Víkingur Ólafsson

The Icelandic pianist presents himself with works by Bach, Siloti and Beethoven

With his blond hair and black glasses, Víkingur Ólafsson looks like a young man with impeccable manners, but the Icelander is considered one of the younger generation’s most unconventional pianists. His playing happily combines passion, explosiveness and intellectualism. On 29 January, he makes his debut in Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation concerts in the chamber music hall of the Philharmonie. In our video, he reveals what he has in common with the ancient Vikings and how he found his own path to Bach and Beethoven.
