The composer Helmut Lachenmann regards himself as a composer likely to frighten off audiences – because in his music he wants to cross borders and open new horizons. The piece My Melodies Music for Eight Horns and Orchestra also gives the listener a completely new sound experience. For the first time since its premiere in Munich in 2018, the work will now be performed in a revised version and in the interpretation of the Berliner Philharmoniker under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. In an interview with Sarah Willis, Helmut Lachenmann talks about the challenge of writing a composition for eight horns and orchestra. The already sold-out concert will be broadcast live in the Digital Concert Hall.
