The Berliner Philharmoniker are part of a new project of the Google Cultural Institute: Under the name of Performing Arts, 60 cultural institutions from 20 countries will now present themselves on this Google Internet platform. World-renowned opera houses, concert halls and theatres will open their virtual doors and, in interactive displays, will give an insight into the history and work of their institutions. In addition to the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Fundação Theatro Municipal de São Paulo in Brazil, the Opéra National de Paris (Palais Garnier) in France, the Royal Shakespeare Company in Great Britain and Carnegie Hall in the United States are among the highlights of the project.
With indoor street view images, anyone wishing to explore the Berlin Philharmonie is invited on a tour through the two concert halls and the foyer of the Philharmonie and the Chamber Music Hall. A spectacular 360 degree video lets the users experience a rehearsal from a range of perspectives of Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. The architecture of the concert hall, plus the history and selected projects of the Berliner Philharmoniker are presented in four digital exhibitions. Would you like to find out more?
