On 1 October, the Berliner Philharmoniker open the concert season at Carnegie Hall with a six-day residency. The American radio station WQXR is taking this opportunity to give the orchestra and its chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle a special welcome. From the Greene Space on 30 September, WQXR will air a preview of the upcoming events and introduce the new recordings of the orchestra. Music will be provided by the Varian Fry Quartet. The following day, the station will broadcast the opening concert of the Berliner Philharmoniker live from Carnegie Hall, followed by a 12-part series in which the orchestra can be heard in recordings from the Berlin Philharmonie.
