Seiji Ozawa has become unable to conduct the concerts in January 2018

19 Oct 2017

Following the advice from his doctor to postpone any live performance held after a long-distance flight due to the lack of physical strength, Seiji Ozawa with deep regret has become unable to conduct the concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker on 19 and 21 January 2018 on the advice of his doctors, since such a long journey would put too great a strain on him.

Mikko Franck will conduct the orchestra in his place. The Finnish conductor made his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in February 2003. He has held the post of music director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France since 2015. The Berliner Philharmoniker regret this cancellation very much but are extremely grateful that Mikko Franck is able to step in. The programme for these concerts remains unchanged.
