Scharounplatz opened

17 Dec 2019

A further section of the redevelopment of the Kulturforum has been completed: Scharounplatz, named after Hans Scharoun, the architect of the Philharmonie is now officially open. It forms the new centre of the joint external foyer of the various cultural institutions on the Kulturforum and presents a new view of the Philharmonie and the Gemäldegalerie. Concert and gallery visitors can now arrive directly at the Kulturforum with the 200 bus.

The stop is in front of the Philharmonie’s Chamber Music Hall. Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße, which has been narrowed and now features traffic-calming elements, can be accessed by BVG buses, taxis and vehicles transporting visitors with reduced mobility, and cyclists. Private vehicles are no longer permitted on Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße.
