From Mid-March, work on the redevelopment of the Kulturforum will be continued by Grün Berlin GmbH, the State of Berlin’s urban development company. This includes the completion of landscaping around the Philharmonie which was started in 2017. Furthermore, Scharounstraße will be redeveloped into a public square.
Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße will be closed to private vehicles as part of the first stage of this redevelopment from 5 March. Please note the changes to traffic routes and the following changes to public transport:
Private vehicles can only reach the Philharmonie and Chamber Music Hall by Scharounstraße and must leave via Scharounstraße or Matthäikirchstraße. Taxi and disabled parking spaces at the west entrance of the Philharmonie will remain, and can be approached by Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße and Scharounstraße.
The 200 Bus will continue to run on Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße and Scharounstraße. Due to the redevelopment, the bus stop for the 200 Bus (direction Potsdamer Platz) will be moved to Scharounstraße, opposite the entrance to the Chamber Music Hall. There are no changes to the route of the 200 Bus travelling to Zoo.
We recommend all people visiting the Philharmonie to use public transport or – if using private vehicles – to use the underground parking facilities at Potsdamer Platz.
