New in the orchestra

25 Aug 2016

For the beginning of the new concert season, there are two new musicians in the Berliner Philharmoniker: Luis Esnaola and Paolo Mendes. A native of Madrid, violinist Luis Esnaola, who joins the first violin section, studied at the Academy of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin under Antje Weithaas and is already well known to the Philharmoniker from his time as a student at the Orchestra Academy. Horn player Paolo Mendes, a student of Michael Höltzel, left his principal horn position at the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin to join the horn section of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Michael Karg has been a member of the orchestra’s double bass section since 2014 and has recently successfully completed his probationary period. He is now a full member of the orchestra. Congratulations!
