Since June 2020, a large, white, foreign object has been standing on the east side of the Chamber Music Hall. When you open it, it reveals a state-of-the-art video studio with six workstations – from production management to camera and score reading assistance. For a long time now, the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation has expressed the wish to be able to also record music projects, family concerts and the performances of the Karajan Academy in the Chamber Music Hall, and to install a video studio offering the same image quality as in the main auditorium Hall of the Philharmonie. However, there was no suitable space. But then came the brilliant idea of a mobile video studio! And now seven small, very discreetly placed Panasonic cameras transmit the image signals from the Chamber Music Hall.
Thanks to the financing by the Freunde der Berliner Philharmoniker e. V., this project was able to be realised within one year. The mobile video studio, which is also to accompany the Berliner Philharmoniker to the Easter Festival in Baden-Baden, has already completed its first tasks: recording the New Music Weekend and the live broadcast of the first education department Family Concert.
