The musical oeuvre of Hans Werner Henze (1926-2012) is well established in the music world. The composer’s pictorial work, however, is largely unknown, as it was not originally intended to be shown to the public. They are, rather, visual associations of the themes, figures and emotions in his scores – a visual extension of Henze’s musical ideas and visions.
The Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation, in cooperation with the Hans Werner Henze Foundation, presents an exhibition in the south foyer of the Philharmonie of a selection of Hans Werner Henze’s art works entitled Farbenlieder – Canti di Colore – Songs of Color. The paintings can be viewed from 25 May 2018 during box-office hours and during concerts at the Philharmonie.
