Mariss Jansons will not be able to conduct the Berliner Philharmoniker concerts on 12, 13 and 14 June 2014 as planned. The Latvian conductor must again undergo necessary medical intervention. His doctors have advised a break from conducting after surgery to convalesce, so Jansons has cancelled his appearances in the Berlin Philharmonie. He will be replaced by Gustavo Dudamel who has agreed to step in at short notice. He will conduct the concert programme of works by Harrison Birtwistle and Gustav Mahler as announced. The soloist in Mahler's Third Symphony is the mezzo-soprano Gerhild Romberger.
