Four musicians pass probationary period
27 Apr 2023
Four musicians have passed their probationary period with the Berliner Philharmoniker: horn players Paula Ernesaks and László Gál, and clarinettists Andraž Golob and Matic Kuder. Congratulations!
Paula Ernesaks, whose family comes from an Estonian family, has been playing in the horn section since March 2022. Born, raised and educated in Finland, she gained orchestral experience in various Finnish ensembles before coming to Berlin in 2019 as a scholarship holder at the Karajan Academy and winning the audition for the horn position in the orchestra after her time as an academy student.
Her colleague László Gál, a member of the horn section since May 2022, comes from a Hungarian family of horn players. He studied at Berlin University of the Arts under Christian Friedrich Dallmann, attended the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin and had a temporary contract with the Staatskapelle Berlin from 2019 to 2020.
Our clarinettists both come from Slovenia: Andraž Golob, who has been on bass clarinet since October 2021, studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz under Gerald Pachinger and Bertram Egger. The desire to become an orchestral musician was consolidated through temporary work with the Grazer Philharmoniker, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and Wiener Staatsoper as well as a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and as an academist with the Vienna Philharmonic.
Matic Kuder is also a student of Gerald Pachinger, and of Dusan Sodjai in Ljubljana and Thomas Holzmann in Nuremberg. He was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and began his career in 2017 as principal clarinet with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra before joining the Berliner Philharmoniker in December 2021.
