David Cooper wins principal horn audition

Congratulations to David Cooper who won the audition for principal horn on 16 December. The post had been vacant since Radek Baborák left the orchestra in 2010. Born in Michigan, David Cooper comes from a family that has already produced several professional horn players. He studied at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and has been principal horn of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra since 2013. He has appeared as a guest with many other orchestras, especially in the USA. David Cooper is an active chamber musician, and is musical director of the Avant Chamber Ballet in Dallas.
