The Easter Festival in Baden-Baden with the Berliner Philharmoniker will continue to take place after 2022. Festspielhaus artistic director Benedikt Stampa and Andrea Zietzschmann, general manager of the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation, have signed a letter of intent to that effect, making further collaboration possible.
“I’m very pleased about this strong signal at a time when we miss the Easter Festival with the Berliner Philharmoniker so much,” said Festspielhaus artistic director Benedikt Stampa. “It is very motivating to know that the orchestra and its chief conductor are thinking further into the future with us, particularly now, which makes us even more hopeful that we will be able to overcome the present situation.”
Andrea Zietzschmann, general manager of the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation said: “We are currently planning two major programmatic emphases for the Easter Festival with the Festspielhaus – first of all, for 2021 and 2022, an exploration of the Russian repertoire. After that, the focus of the Festival will be on Richard Strauss. It is very important to us, particularly now, to look ahead together and begin concrete planning for the future”.
