Concerts from the Easter Festival in the Digital Concert Hall

On 20 and 21 March, the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Digital Concert Hall will become a digital venue of the Easter Festival Baden-Baden. It will broadcast live the orchestra concerts on both days which are being given under the batons of Manfred Honeck and Sir Simon Rattle. On 20 March, Manfred Honeck, who is standing in for the indisposed Yannick Nézet-Séguin, will conduct Johannes Brahms’ Tragic Overture, Tchaikovsky’s “Pathétique” and Robert Schumann’s Cello Concerto. The soloist is the cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

The next day, the orchestra and its chief conductor present an unusual programme: The concert opens with Mozart’s Piano Concerto in E Flat Major KV 482, with Mitsuko Uchida as the soloist. After, the Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle will perform Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, with which they enjoyed great success in Berlin and on an international tour. The soloists are Sarah Connolly, Genia Kühmeier, Florian Boesch and Pavol Breslik, together with the Prague Philharmonic Choir.
