The Japanese electronics company Panasonic is to support the media activities, and especially the Digital Concert Hall, of the Berliner Philharmoniker, as was announced at a press conference at the IFA in Berlin. The collaboration between Panasonic and Berlin Phil Media GmbH, a subsidiary of the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation, includes equipping the video studio of the Digital Concert Hall at the Philharmonie with the latest 4K technology, which will allow recordings and live broadcasts to be made in innovative Ultra HD.
Further projects are also being planned together with Panasonic’s high-end audio brand Technics, such as exploring audio-streaming in high-resolution and the potential of traditional analogue sound recording. Another focus of the collaboration is optimising the reproduction of high-quality content in the field of in-car entertainment.
Olaf Maninger, principal cellist, media board member of the Berliner Philharmoniker and managing director of Berlin Phil Media: “With the integration of a new 4K Video-Studio we will accomplish another technological milestone in our media activities. Panasonic will help us to achieve this vision with their excellent recording technology. Together we look to the future and will bring our music to our fans all over the world in the best possible quality.”
